What is the recreation level?
Recreational leagues maintain an instructional and social environment where everyone is encouraged to play and equal playing time is mandatory. The level of competitiveness increases with age.
When and where do recreational divisions play?
Recreation teams play a one-hour game weekly beginning the first weekend in December. Grades 1-8 play on Saturday or Sunday in one of the school gyms or at the NH Sportsplex. Grades 9-12, as part of our Biddy League, play on Sundays. The season concludes in mid-March.
Teams in the girls 7th/8th grade division and in the girls Biddy 9th-12th grade division will play some of their games against teams of the same age and recreational makeup from Merrimack. Bedford teams in these two divisions will occasionally have the opportunity to play at the Smith Gym at the James Mastricola Upper Elementary School (JMUES) in Merrimack.
Do recreational teams have scheduled practices?
Grades 3-8 recreational teams have a one hour weekly practice on a week night at either 6, 7 or 8pm. Younger grades have the earlier times, older grades the later times. The 1st/2nd grade division grade does not have a practice during the week. Their Saturday session includes 30 minutes of instruction with their team, followed by a 30 minute scrimmage with the other team in the gym. The High School Biddy teams also do not have a scheduled weekly practice.
